• 1kg rib fillet or rump, trimmed
  • 1/3 cup kecap manis
  • 2 tspns sesame oil
  • 1 punnet cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 150 gm cucumber (lebanese), seeded and sliced
  • 6 spring onions, sliced
  • 150 gm salad mix fo your choice, washed
  • 5 large Freshzest Kaffir Lime Leaves, finely shredded
  • 1.5 cups Freshzest Coriander
  • 1.5 cups Freshzest Mint
  • 1.5 cups Freshzest Basil – Green
  • 2 medium golden shallots, finely sliced (optional)
  • 100gm whole peanuts, fried and drained
  • 125ml lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 60ml fish sauce
  • 2-3 tspns white sugar
  • 1 red chilli (birds eye), seeded and chopped

Thai Beef Salad with peanuts.

Preparation Time: 1 1/2 hrs (inc marinating)

Cooking Time: 30 mins

Serving Size: 4

  1. Marinate beef in the kecap manis for about an hour
  2. Prepare and mix all salad ingredients Mix together lime juice, sesame oil, sugar and chilli to make the dressing. Taste to get the right mix of sweet, sour and spicy
  3. Sear beef on the BBQ and cook to your taste, (we prefer to rare). Allow to rest, then leave to rest for 10 minutes. Slice thinly
  4. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and serve onto plates
