Marjoram
Origanum marjoranaGreat For - scrambled eggs, dumplings, herb butter
Marjoram is native to Asia Minor but is often noted as indigenous to the Mediterranean area due to its popularity there. It was well known to the Greeks and Romans, who saw it as a symbol of happiness. Marjoram has a delicate, sweet, pleasant flavor with a slightly bitter undertone. The mild flavour makes it an ideal accompaniment to many dishes.
Selecting - Look for leaves that are pale but bright green or grayish-green in colour. Some varieties of marjoram are softer and may appear wilted but the flavour remains.
Storing - Marjoram can be sensitive to the cold so place it in the warmest part of your refrigerator. You can store marjoram in the fridge in a plastic bag or container for around 5 days.
